Review: Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan)

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I thought I’d do a review on perhaps one of the greatest anime series I have ever seen. It is of course Shingeki no Kyojin or Attack on Titan as some of you know it. The creator of this utter brilliance is Hajime Isayama. As normal the anime originates from a Manga series of the same name of which Isayama is responsible for, and, judging from what I’ve read and seen in the series, the anime stays pretty true to the manga, with the exception of the inevitable recap episode.

For those who haven’t seen it, Shingeki no Kyojin follows the boy Eren Jager and his comrades as they battle to survive against the never ending threat of the Titans. The Titans are giants that feed on people and have pushed humanity to the brink of extinction and forced them to take shelter behind huge walls in order to keep them at bay.

However on one particular day, the wall is broken by a Colossal Titan and humanity is in danger once again after 100 years free of Titans. It is on this day that Eren Jager, along with his friends Mikasa and Armin witness his mother eaten alive by a Titan. From that day he vowed to kill every Titan and pursued to become a soldier and fight.

From that summary it’s easy to tell that this is going to be jam packed with action. The series is filled with exciting scenes and never leaves the viewer bored. It’s just interesting in each episode and keeps you hooked and wanting to see more.

Unfortunately there are only 25 episodes in the series and there has been no announcement of another coming anytime soon but for those who need to get their Titan fix, the manga continues past the anime and is still ongoing.

The manga itself is really interesting and the chapters usually go above 40 pages. However as a drawback to the long chapters, it means there’s usually a month of waiting before the next one is released. So if you have little patience you may want to avoid starting the manga.

Anyway, I know this review wasn’t all that good but I thought I’d give it a try. Overall I’d give Shingeki no Kyojin a 10 out of 10 and say it’s one of the best anime’s out there at this moment in time. I highly recommend it.
